Squashed screen when in 240p mode (advancemame) vertical games on horizontal monitor

Post by Phones » Sun Oct 21, 2018 3:46 pm

I’m having trouble running advancemame vertical games on a horizontal monitor when resolution is set to ’240p only horizontal’. The reason for me wanting this mode is that it is flicker free on my setup.

The games are squashed horizontally and only taking up about half of it's original width. Does anyone know if it's possible to fix this somehow? Maybe by altering the launch script?

This occurs in advancemame and mame 0.172 but in fba there seems to be no image squashing occurring.

Depending on the original game resolution you may be able to make it a bit better on a game by game basis in the built in video menus of MAME. AdvMAME has different options than 172, for 172 the sliders menu can also be useful. In game the shortcut Start+joy Right (or just keyboard 'tab') will open the MAME menus.

I’ve noticed this too, I run my menus in 480 as I didn’t find any other solution but I’d imagine there’s a way of fixing it in the launch script

Did anyone find a fix for this? I just ran into it as well.

Thanks!
